Chinese Lunar New Year at the Musée Cernuschi: a weekend of free events

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, and more specifically the Chinese New Year, the Musée Cernuschi invites you to an exceptional weekend of free events. On February 10 and 11, 2024, get ready to plunge into the heart of Asian traditions in a sumptuous setting just a stone's throw from Parc Monceau, in Paris's prestigious 8th arrondissement. As the city of Paris' museum of Asian arts, the Musée Cernuschi boasts an impressive collection of works of art from the Far East, displayed in a magnificent private mansion.

The program for this festive weekend is specially designed for families. On Saturday and Sunday, from 11am and 2pm, children are invited to the "Draw a dragon!" workshop. Inspired by the frieze of dragons in the Buddha Hall, they'll have the opportunity to learn how to draw and create their own dragon, in the magic of Asian art. This free 15-minute workshop will take place on the mezzanine, in the Kwok Room (Buddha Hall), with no reservation necessary, subject to availability.

The highlight of the show will undoubtedly be the puppet theater dedicated to the story of the White Monkey Sun Wu Kong, an emblematic character of Chinese popular culture. Presented in partnership with Théâtre du Petit Miroir, this show will also take place in Salle Kwok, offering young and old alike a fascinating dive into the adventures of this arrogant, funny and cunning hero. Performances take place at 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, and last 50 minutes. Admission is free, without prior reservation, but the minimum age is 7.
