Get ready to relive an exceptional cultural nocturne with the return of Nuit des Musées on Saturday, May 18, 2024! This unique, free event pushes open the doors of the finest museums and must-see institutions in Paris and the Île-de-France region, as night falls. It's a special evening when cultural venues celebrate art in a whole new light, with guided tours, shows, screenings and much more! It's a chance to see or revisit permanent or temporary collections, meet artists, take part in creative workshops and watch live performances, all in a magical, festive atmosphere.
The Nuit des Musées 2024 is also an opportunity to discover nuggets from outside the capital. One of these, the Musée Daubigny, is nestled in the historic heart ofAuvers-sur-Oise, one ofFrance's most beautiful villages. This museum highlights the life and work of Charles-François Daubigny, a great 19th-century artist and precursor of the Impressionists. Housed in the Manoir des Colombières, opposite the Ravoux inn where the painter Vincent Van Gogh spent his last days, the institution reveals a magnificent collection of Daubigny's paintings, drawings, engravings and personal objects, as well as other works by his "confrères". While the permanent collection is dedicated to this great painter, the temporary collections are also a major asset of this museum.
