Fête de la musique 2024: rock concert in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris

The Fête de la musique returns to Paris and the rest of France on Friday, June 21, 2024! Good news, because this year, the popular and festive event falls on a Friday. So there's plenty of time for a nice long evening of music before the weekend!

A quick reminder: the country's first Fête de la Musique was held in 1982. The event was the brainchild of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and cabinet member. Their idea? To launch a major popular event enabling all musicians to play and make a name for themselves during a festive evening.

And it's been a huge success for over 40 years now! Every June 21, budding musicians and singers take to the streets to bring the sound of live music to life. Rock, rap, pop, electro, reggae, classical, zouk, funk, metal, French variety, blues and jazz are all on the bill...

Music resonates throughout Paris during the Fête de la Musique, as it does in the historic and touristy Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Located in the capital's 6th arrondissement, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district has inspired many artists, giving rise to a large number of literary works, films and songs. Today, it's a popular tourist destination, and home to historic cafés such as Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots.

Once again, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district will be taken over by budding musicians during this Fête de la musique to be experienced on June 21, 2024. Here's the program!
