Available on Netflix since January 5, this documentary series simply explains where certain swear words come from. And it's none other than American actor Nicolas Cage who takes part in this stylish exercise, surrounded by historians and etymology specialists.
We discover the origins of certain swear words, as well as their evolution in the English language. Take the word "bitch", for example. According to the experts, it enjoyed a revival in 1920 during the suffragette movement, before becoming widely used again in the 60s and 70s with the feminist movements.
In all, six offbeat yet educational episodes are presented, focusing on some of Shakespeare's most popular swear words, such as"Fuck","Shit" and"Damn".
Humor is also mixed with history, with the presence of several renowned comedians, including Sarah Silvermann and Nick Offerman.
