It's hard to combine social life and parenthood when your baby is new. The slightest outing becomes a headache: you can't let crying disturb you, and the same goes for breastfeeding, diaper changes and so on. For many parents, even going to the cinema is no longer an option, as it's supposed to be a haven of peace where no disturbing noise can be heard. However, there is one cinema where this rule is sometimes broken. In Antony, in the Hauts-de-Seine department (92), the Le Select cinema, in partnership with the"Des familles et des liens" association, offers a parent-child session for children under one year of age, once a month.
These are not films for children, but for parents, who can enjoy them without fear of disturbing them. Everything is done to avoid upsetting babies. The screening takes place at midday, the lights remain on during the film, the sound is turned down and baby-changing tables are available in the room. What's more, only French films are shown, with no violence or action. To give you an idea of the program, recent screenings have included Folies Fermières, Jeunes Amants andEiffel .
The schedule of parent-baby sessions is available on the Select website.
