There's no age limit for going to a concert, andOrchestre Lamoureux understands this. In 2016, the orchestra's musicians launched the concept of mini-concerts, specially designed for babies. Here, we're not talking about amusical awakening in the round in a LAEP, but rather a concert in a venue, and not just any venue, since we're talking about the Théâtre de l'Atelier, in the Abbesses district, as well as the Théâtre des Deux Rives, in Charenton-le-Pont.
Orchestre Lamoureux already holds adult concerts there, and wanted to introduce children to symphonic music and music theory from birth. On the program, then, you'll embark on a 30-minute concert with a listening/singing section and a dance section! Each performance is different, featuring different musicians and composers: the perfect way to (re)discover classical and symphonic music as a family!
As soon as you arrive, the family atmosphere is there: two-month-old babies in slings, 3-year-olds on the floor because they don't want to move, a stroller parking lot... We're right where we belong! Although food is forbidden, bottles of water are nevertheless allowed. Then it's time for the show! The lights are not too dim so as not to disturb the children, and a dozen (or less) musicians arrive to open the concert.
"We didn't want this to be a static concert, with children and parents sitting in armchairs in the Salle Gaveau. We wanted the children to be able to move around and experience their first concert freely," say the members of the Orchestra. As a result, the babies are allowed to move around as much as they like throughout the concert, and even to raise their voices! As far as prices are concerned, the orchestra wants to be able to welcome everyone to its baby concerts, with a child rate of 9 euros and an adult rate of 15 euros in 2nd category, 20 € in 1st category. So, are we ready to discover this baby-friendly concept?
