To coincide with the 2024 edition of Contes et Histoires, the Conciergerie is offering a number of fun tours for families during the Christmas vacations. Join us from December 21, 2024 to January 4, 2025 to take part in these unique activities.

During the Christmas vacations, the Conciergerie welcomes families as part of the Contes et Histoires 2024 event. From December 21, 2024 to January 4, 2025 , discover a little piece of French history in a playful way, in one of the capital's emblematic monuments.

Originally a Gothic palace, the Conciergerie became a courthouse, prison and court during the French Revolution. The cell of its most famous prisoner, Marie-Antoinette, was converted into a memorial chapel during the Restoration. A rich and fascinating history, which the Conciergerie invites us to discover in an unusual way during this family event.

During this 2024 edition of Contes et Histoires, the Parisian monument is offering a range of events for the whole family. The aim: to take us on a magical, dreamlike journey, while sharing with us a little piece of French history.

Here is the program for this year's events:

  • Tous en cuisines
Through workshops involving card games, colors, smells and fabric prints, children will discover the world of medieval cooking in the majestic setting of the Conciergerie kitchens. This awakening of the senses will be an opportunity for the whole family to compose a table menu for a collective meal.
    Saturday, December 21, 2024 - 10:30 a.m.

  • Daily life in the Middle Ages
Food, festive pleasures, cooking: follow the guide to the Conciergerie and discover daily life in the former palace of the Capetian kings.
    Saturday 21st and Sunday 29th December 2024 - 3.30pm

  • The Conciergerie through time
Let us tell you all about the history of the monument, from the life of the Palace in medieval times to the events of the French Revolution.
    Sunday December 22 - 2pm

  • Enchanted tales from Africa
To the sound of the Kora and the balafon, embark on a journey filled with wonderful stories with universal morals. The tales, poetry and music of West Africa allow us to name the unspeakable, unravel contradictions and repair the wounds of our present and past history. They help us to grow, to expand and to create harmony.
    Thursday, December 26, 2024, Friday, December 27, 2024, Saturday, December 28, 2024, Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

  • Night in the Middle Ages
How and in what did people sleep in the Middle Ages? What did people do at night, and what were dreams and nightmares like? A visit-workshop for children and their parents to discover this mysterious world. Children can learn about different sleep patterns and rhythms, and discover chimeras and the medieval imagination. A workshop will allow them to tell a story and imagine the creation of a sleep-protecting monster.
