In "La Page Blanche", by Murielle Magellan, Sara Giraudeau plays a young woman who suddenly loses her memory, and investigates to find it. A search that will profoundly change her. The film opens in cinemas on August 31. Discover the first trailer.

For her first feature film, novelist and screenwriter Murielle Magellan(Sous les jupes des filles, Une famille à louer) turned to the comic strip by Pénélope Bagieu(Culottées) and Boulet(Raghnarok), La Page Blanche. This colorful, gentle adaptation features Sara Giraudeau(Le Discours, Médecin de nuit, Le Bureau des Légendes) in the lead role of Eloïse, a young woman who wakes up one morning on a bench, not knowing who she is. An investigation begins to recover her memory.

Along the way, she meets up with her colleagues and realizes that the person she used to be is not someone she likes. On her journey, she'll cross paths with some colorful characters, played by Pierre Deladonchamps(Les Chatouilles, Eiffel, Vaurien), Grégoire Ludig, from the Palmashow(La Folle histoire de Max et Léon, Les Vedettes, Au Poste !), Lola Dubini (Quand on crie au loup), and many others!

The feature film will be released in cinemas on August 31, 2022. In the meantime, we'll let you discover the trailer and our interview with the director.

Synopsis:

Eloïse finds herself sitting alone on a Parisian bench. Who is she? What is she doing there? She can't remember a thing! So she embarks on an investigation, full of surprises, to find out who she is. What if this amnesia could help her find out who she is, who she loves, and reinvent her life?

Our review:

What a charming film! Admittedly, La Page Blanche may not stand out in the busy back-to-school schedule. Nevertheless, Murielle Magellan's feature film skilfully plays on the types represented by its characters. The film's actors break out of the roles we're used to seeing them in, and that's a pleasure, all the more so with such a fine cast. Pierre Deladonchamps is clearly the film's trump card, and we love to see him step out of psychopathic roles(Les Chatouilles, Vaurien). Here, he plays a geeky computer scientist who's very funny and endearing.

Despite a rather weak script, the film is quite effective. We more or less know how it's going to end pretty quickly, and all the main character's problems would be solved in seconds if she were honest about her memory loss. However, that doesn't stop the charm from working, all the more so as Murielle Magellan marks her direction with visuals often close to comics, the story's original medium. What a delight!
