The City of Paris has broken its own rules to pay tribute to Line Renaud. Normally, it is not possible to name a place after a personality who has not been dead for at least five years. However, the Jardin des Ambassadeurs, located between the Champs Élysées and Place de la Concorde, is to be renamed after the singer and actress.
The inauguration will take place this Monday, October 2, at 5.45pm, according to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. Line Renaud, for her part, expressed her emotion in response to the news.
This place is very moving for me because I played "Très Chère Mathilde" for a season at @MarignyTheatre and on Saturdays, between the two performances, I would go for a walk in these gardens. 2/3

As well as being a complete and beloved artist, 95-year-old Line Renaud is also deeply committed to the fight against AIDS, and played a fundamental role in the founding of Sidaction. One of her most recent battles is with the Association pour le droit de mourir dans la dignité (Association for the right to die with dignity). In 2022, the French government elevated her to the rank of Grand-Croix de la Légion d'honneur.
