After Karl Lagerfeld's life brought to the small screen, it's now the turn of legendary couturier Christian Dior to have his own biopic. According to Variety, the film will be produced by Elsa Zylberstein, in a nod to her mother, who worked for the French fashion house for many years. After her success at last February's César Awards with "Simone, le voyage du siècle", Elsa Zylberstein intends to bring a magical touch to theDior story.
The film will take place in Paris from 1947, when Christian Dior's first iconic collection was created, until his death in 1957. It will plunge us into thecouturier's rise within the House of Dior, as well as into intimate moments of his life, such as his romance with Jacques Benita.
For Elsa Zylberstein, Monsieur Dior "was very reserved about his personal life", and remains to this day a very mysterious personality to define. "Always discreet, and at the same time very resilient", these two qualities made him fascinating, and his legacy all the more exceptional.
Casting has yet to be revealed, but Elsa Zylberstein has already announced that she will play Raymonde Zehnacker, the director of the Dior studio and an indispensable employee for the fashion house. Screenwriter Julien Teisseire ("Plan Cœur" on Netflix) will be writing the script.
In addition to the biopic, Dior's iconic style will come to life in the Apple TV+ series"The New Look", starring Ben Mendelsohn as the couturier, Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel.
Although the release date is still under wraps, we can't wait to discover this new fashion film!
