Attention fashion addicts and couture aficionados - the Cinémathèque Française, the cinephile's temple in Paris's 12th arrondissement, has put together an ultra-stylish fall program! After its last two exhibitions, one dedicated to Romy Schneider and the other to film spies (until May 2024), the Parisian institution will roll out the red carpet for a brand new retrospective:"Cinema and Fashion in 20 Essential Films", from August 31 to September 22, 2023.
From Adrian's glamorous first steps for Joan Crawford in "Femmes" to Audrey Hepburn's timeless elegance in Givenchy in "Drôle de frimousse", each film depicts a unique story where Haute Couture and the seventh art meet.
While the legendary lives of iconic couturiers such as Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent are reflected in gripping biopics, filmmakers have also explored the dark and wacky side of the industry, offering biting satires like "The Devil Wears Prada". The Cinémathèque Française offers you a collection of mythical films where aesthetics and imagination merge to reveal the secrets behind fashion creations.
A great opportunity to make yourself a canvas ... couture!
