For his first film as a director, Ali Marhyar mixes boxing and life at the Château de Chambord in Comme un Prince, a comedy starring Ahmed Sylla. The film is due in cinemas on January 17.
The comedian plays Souleyman, a multi-talented boxer and great hope for the next Olympics, but a silly fight puts an end to his dreams, and a cracked hand coupled with a community service sentence forces him to put an end to his career. He then finds himself working at the Château de Chambord, where he meets Mélissa (Mallory Wanecque, revealed by the brilliant Les Pires), a teenager who seems to have an innate talent for boxing. Souleyman sees a way back into the system.
Ali Marhyar's first film is an attractive comedy. While not without its faults - not least an expected script - the film manages to carry us away thanks to its fine cast of characters, and above all its secondary roles: Julia Piaton, who plays the events manager at the Château de Chambord, but above all the two Johnathan, Cohen and Lambert, who each play a rather absurd role that - although very funny - is quite revealing of a sclerotic system. Because yes, Comme un Prince also has a strong, socially committed discourse. Its characters are those left behind, the precarious, the abandoned. In short, those who have to fight to survive. This makes it a wonderful discovery that will appeal to all ages.
