Nessim Chikhaoui, known for his previous work Placés, returns with a new feature film entitled Petites mains. Through the eyes of young Eva, played by Corinne Masiero (Les Invisibles, La Marginale), the film sheds light on the often ignored daily lives of the employees of a large hotel. The film, which promises a behind-the-scenes immersion in a world that is both brilliant and demanding, is expected on VOD for purchase and rental from September 4, 2024.
The synopsis plunges us into the journey of Eva, freshly arrived in the merciless world ofluxury hotels. As she becomes a chambermaid, she meets Safietou, Aissata, Violette and Simone - colleagues with distinctive personalities who embody the diversity and human richness of this world. These "little hands", often forgotten, reveal a solidarity and resilience in the face of daily challenges and injustices.
The film's turning point comes with the emergence of a social movement within the hotel, highlighting the struggles and aspirations of these women. This dynamic raises profound questions about dignity, workers' rights and the power of unity in the face of adversity.
With Petites mains, Nessim Chikhaoui doesn't just paint a portrait of women in struggle; he offers a reflection on the value of work and the importance of recognizing every contribution, no matter how modest. This film promises to be a must-see for anyone interested in authentic human stories told by strong, inspiring characters.
The choice of May 1st as the release date was not insignificant. It reinforced the film's message, underlining the importance of recognizing workers' rights, particularly in often underestimated sectors such as hospitality. Petites mains thus promises to be a film as touching as it is committed, a work which we hope will help change the way we look at these essential but all too often invisible professions.
