The surprise no one was expecting! 15 years after its release, Liza Azuelos' cult film LOL, starring Sophie Marceau, may be getting a sequel, and we tell you all about it...

A hugely successfuldramatic comedy released in 2009, it stars Sophie Marceau and Christa Theret in a tumultuous mother-daughter relationship. In the film, written by Lisa Azuelos, we follow Lola's life as a high-school student: her love affairs, her troubles and her problems. A story that marked a generation, and may soon be back on screen!

Fifteen years after the film's release in 2009, Liza Azuelos, the film's director, announced that she had written a sequel in the latest episode of her podcast, Lisa Azuelos Podcast. Jeremy Kapone, guest of honor on her podcast at the time of her revelations, confirms that he would like to take part in the film "for me, it was always obvious that we were going to make a sequel". The actor played Maël, the man all teenage girls fell in love with when they saw the film. Sophie Marceau may even be involved, the director declaring "I spoke to Sophie about it again not long ago, and she said: we're in this together, we're going to do it".

As a reminder, LOL tells the story of Lola (played by Christa Theret) , a 16-year-old navigating the complexities of high school life and relationships. Lola has just broken up with her boyfriend Arthur and is getting closer to her best friend Maël, which leads to complications in their circle of friends. At the same time, Lola's mother Anne (played by Sophie Marceau) is trying to understand and connect with her daughter, while dealing with her own complicated love life.

For people born in the 90s, LOL is a cult film, with many identifying with Lola's teenage stories or with her mother's difficulty in managing her family while dealing with her love problems. Set in Paris, the film echoes stories that many families have experienced. It continues to appeal to the youngest viewers, watching LOL 's high-schoolers with a touch of nostalgia, back when the only social network was MSN, which should bring back memories for the 90s generation by taking them back 15 years .

LOL did so well in France, with over 3.6 million viewers, that it was adapted in the U.S. in 2012 under the same title, with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore in the lead roles. Christa Theret, who plays Lola, was nominated for a César for Best New Actress.

The announcement was a wake-up call for LOL fans, and now the public is just waiting for the sequel, 15 years on!
