Emmanuel Mouret unveils his new film, Trois Amies, starring Camille Cottin, Sara Forestier and India Hair. While we wait for the film to hit cinemas on November 6, 2024, here's our review and a first extract from the feature.

Joan (India Hair) is no longer in love with Victor (Vincent Macaigne) and suffers from feeling dishonest with him. Her best friend Alice (Camille Cottin) reassures her that she herself feels no passion for Eric (Grégoire Ludig), yet their relationship is going swimmingly! What she doesn't know is that he's having an affair with Rebecca (Sara Forestier), their mutual friend... When Joan finally decides to leave Victor and he tragically disappears, the lives of the three friends and their stories are turned upside down.

Once again, Emmanuel Mouret (Chronique d'une liaison passagère) explores the complexities of love and friendship in his new film, Trois Amies, in theaters November 6, 2024. Presented at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, the film is supported by a trio of excellent actresses, and a cast of supporting men of the same calibre.

A bittersweet comedy about the torments of life, Trois Amies draws all its substance from the dynamics that bind its characters, between unspoken words and uncomfortable truths. It's almost like watching a play, from the moment Macaigne - in his role as eternal loser - introduces the heroines and heroes of this story in voice-over, while a flute lends a certain lightness to the proceedings.

Funny and tender, the film deconstructs the mechanics of love as it weaves and unravels, as the characters question and judge each other, launch and hold back. To a certain extent, the men are erased in favor of the women's desire. Scenes of everyday life are enhanced by banter, and these characters face dilemmas of love and friendship as they walk in, out or into rooms, in deliberately over-framed scenes. Marivaudage is never far away!

A subtle dance of words and emotions that leaves you with a great sense of sweetness.
