Le Panache, directed by Jennifer Devoldère and starring José Garcia, Joachim Arseguel and Aure Atika, follows Colin, a stuttering teenager, as he struggles to overcome his fears and get on stage. In theaters November 20, 2024.

Following the success of Sage-Homme, Jennifer Devoldère returns with Le Panache, a comedy-drama that tackles universal themes such as courage, friendship and the quest for self. This feature-length film tells the story of Colin, a 14-year-old who, despite his stuttering difficulties, sets himself a daunting challenge: to play Cyrano de Bergerac on stage in front of his entire secondary school. In the background, the inspiring figure of his French teacher, played by José Garcia, helps him to face his fears and discover his true strength.

When Colin enters a new school, he's filled with anxiety. Stammering and unsure of himself, he fears he won't fit in with his classmates. His life changes when he meets Monsieur Devarseau, his charismatic and passionate French teacher. Mr. Devarseau encourages Colin to overcome his handicap and break out of his solitude. Thanks to this support, Colin makes friends with other students and, together, they set up a daring project: a performance of Cyrano de Bergerac in front of the whole school. For Colin, playing Cyrano, famous for his panache despite his complexes, becomes an opportunity to prove to himself that he can overcome his stammer and assert his place in the world.

Le Panache is aimed above all at an audience sensitive to initiation stories and comic dramas that explore the challenges of adolescence with a blend of tenderness and humor. Fans of films such as The Circle of Missing Poets and The King's Speech will find an emotional similarity in this work, where the art of speech and the quest for identity play a central role. The film deals with stuttering, a subject rarely tackled in cinema, with delicacy and accuracy, while highlighting the importance of academic support and friendship.

What sets Le Panache apart is Jennifer Devoldère 's ability to create deeply human characters, grappling with universal issues, in a school setting that resonates with the audience. Colin's evolution, through the prism of the theatrical stage, provides a poignant and inspiring exploration of adolescence.

With a stellar cast, including José Garcia in a striking role as a benevolent mentor, and Joachim Arseguel as Colin, Le Panache promises to be a real gem of dramatic comedy. This film will touch viewers with its sincerity, humor and emotion, while offering a fresh look at the personal challenges young people can face. In theaters November 20, 2024, Le Panache is an ode to resilience and the transformative power of art and friendship.
