Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden reveals itself in a satisfying new preview. Find out more about this groundbreaking action RPG, released this February 13, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The Game Awards were held on December 8, 2022. A ceremony full of surprises, during which we discovered the trailer for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, an action RPG straight out of the Don't Nod development studios. Originally scheduled for release on November 7, 2023, the game was finally released on February 13, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.

We play as Red and Antea, two lovers whose job is to banish ghosts. A story that could be totally epic... If Antea weren't a ghost herself, whom Red can't bring himself to banish.

We're plunged into an exciting fantasy universe, with stunning graphics and plenty of action. Venture into this unusual and supernatural epic, which should hold many surprises in store.

At Summer Game Fest 2023, Don't Nod and Focus Entertainment revealed a little more about the game. A gameplay trailer was released on June 8. In this eagerly-awaited game, you can play alternately with the two main characters: each has different powers and abilities, to be used wisely. The choices you make will also have an impact on the story... So think about your actions, and make the right decisions!

In a second gameplay video, we take a closer look at the skills and equipment to be acquired over the course of the game. These gains change depending on the character: the Red - Antea duo can alternate between physical combat and spiritual powers, to vary the gameplay. The trailer also gives a glimpse of the influence and importance of moral choices, which define the rest of your story.

Synopsis of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden:

" New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red Mac Raith are Banishers. The two lovers have vowed to banish the spirits that torment the living. Mortally wounded following a disastrous mission, Antea becomes one of those ghosts she hates so much. In despair, the couple set off to explore the haunted lands of North America, in search of a way to free Antea from her terrible condition.

Immerse yourself in the touching and powerful story of two lovers with an uncertain destiny. Unlock the secrets of an esoteric world ravaged by supernatural creatures, and help the desperate communities of New Eden struggle to survive. We were able to test this game during a preview organized at Paris Games Week 2023, then at its release. And the test was more than conclusive!

First and foremost,Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a beautiful, well-realized and very fluid game (although you'll need to check that your computer has the right configuration to play).

The controls are intuitive, easy to learn and master, so you can enjoy the game without getting lost. It's easy to get lost in the open world, in our desire to explore it, and in the side quests along the way. No worries, though, as a discreet map allows us to return to the mission objective easily if you get lost in the forests of New Eden.

The main story is interesting: don't hesitate to poke around and chat with the locals to discover all the little elements that make up the game's lore, and learn more about the characters you meet.

Battles are dynamic, with a variety of weapons to help all types of players defeat their enemies. The changeover system, from Red to Antea, offers interesting possibilities in the midst of action.

We liked the preview, and our post-release test of the game was enough to convince us.

We've been able to explore Don't Nod's game in greater detail since its official release. Unsurprisingly, the studio has delivered another nugget.

Banishers is a moving, testing game . It's all about choices and consequences. Immersed in the story, the player must make sometimes difficult decisions, for the good of the person you love, and for the good of the community. Take time to think: these choices have an impact on the rest of the story!

The strength of this game lies in its nuances: here, good and evil blur and mix in a border that's not always easy to see. But there's no question of getting stuck on your situation for hours on end: this game has plenty of pace, and the battles will require good reflexes and a bit of strategy.

Not everything is rosy in the land of revenants: Banishers can be wearying in certain respects, not least because of its very large map. The universe is beautiful, but it quickly becomes annoying when you get lost in huge, uninteresting areas. Immersion can also be a little broken by NPCs that sometimes lack life.

All in all, Banishers is a beautiful, complex and particularly well-written game. It requires a great deal of dedication, particularly during the exploration phases, which can drag on forever.
