Attention Dragon Ball fans! Dragon Ball Z Sparking! Zero", published by Bandai Namco, has been waiting for you since October 11 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. We gave it a sneak preview at a preview party, and tell you all about it!

Remember those long teenage afternoons spent in front of the console, trying to beat your brother or friend at Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi? Dozens of video games based on the Dragon Ball Z license have been released since 2007, the release date of the last opus in the video game saga. Yet Sangoku and Vegeta fans remain convinced that this is the best manga-based game ever produced.

In 2024, perhaps their minds will change... 17 years after the release of Budokai Tenkaichi 3, a fourth installment will see the light of day. This new game has been renamed Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero! And a new trailer has just been released featuring characters from the Saiyan and Namek sagas!

Our preview of Dragon Ball Z - Sparking! Zero :

A game we were able to test very quickly at a press event dedicated to the game. And we were surprised by the quality of the game, on several counts: first of all, its graphic quality... And for good reason: the game is graphically impeccable, extremely fluid and beautiful to look at. Now, you're going to tell us "yes, this isn't a Last of Us or an Uncharted 4...", of course, but that's not the point here. The idea is to retranscribe the game graphically in the style of the manga and anime, and the chosen AD sticks to the idea, nothing more, nothing less.

A game that also surprises with the quality of its environment, since here you can forget about dull, bland 2D PvP... Here, you can move in 3D, and not just on the ground! Whether you're in the air or underwater, you'll need to use trickery and space to defeat your opponent.

Gameplay-wise, we're also impressed by the range of moves which, while they may seem fairly basic (fans of fighting games will agree), can be upgraded via charged smashes, and that's pretty cool... in any case, it allows you to vary the pleasures of combat and use your wits to defeat your enemy.

That's a lot to say in two or three battles, but you'll have to get your hands on it to get a fuller picture. A game that will undoubtedly please fans of Dragon Ball or fighting games, and for the rest of you, curiosity is always a good thing. All you have to do now is get your hands on it.
