The Like a Dragon saga returns in an all-new universe! Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a spin-off from the famous action-adventure series, awaits you on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on February 21, 2025. Developed by RGG Studio, this title puts the spotlight on Goro Majima, the saga's emblematic character, in an all-new story set against a backdrop of Hawaiian landscapes. Players will discover enriched gameplay and a unique narrative, following the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

The choice of Goro Majima as the main protagonist stems from a process of reflection that began at the end ofInfinite Wealth's development. According to Masayoshi Yokoyama, Chief Producer of the series, this spin-off enabled the development of a subplot in which"Majima, suffering from amnesia, reveals his true nature as the story progresses". This context was imagined to offer a new perspective on an often enigmatic character. The team also experimented with original concepts before settling on the pirate theme, such as the abandoned idea of a game called Like a Dragon: Tuna.
Gameplay-wise, the game introduces two fighting styles for Majima, the "Mad Dog" and the "Sea Dog", offering variety in confrontations. Hiroyuki Sakamoto, also Chief Producer, explains:"We felt that two different styles were the right number to avoid combat becoming too complicated. [...] The Sea Dog style has fun costumes". These innovations, including the integration of jumps into combat, promise a renewed experience for fans.
