Saros, the upcoming third-person action game from Housemarque, made a surprise appearance at the PlayStation State of Play on February 12, 2026. The title’s release date has been confirmed for April 30, 2026 on PS5. Building on the studio’s experience with Returnal, the game promises to continue in the vein of Housemarque’s signature fast-paced, challenging gameplay, while introducing a fresh approach and an entirely new universe.
Saros takes place on Carcosa, a lost colony plunged under an ominous eclipse. The player takes on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer determined to find a mysterious person. Housemarque describes the title as " an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost of creating a new future ". Rahul Kohli(Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher) lends his features and voice to Arjun, bringing an extra dimension to the game's story.
One of the main changes compared to Returnal is the way progression is managed. Unlike its predecessor, Saros incorporates permanent resources and a progression system that allows players to retain and improve their equipment after each death. Housemarque emphasizes that " every death will be precious ", as it will change the environment and offer new strategic opportunities.
Preorders are still open, by the way. Meanwhile, we're diving back into Returnal with Gwendoline Christie. Time to get those controllers ready!
