Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes set to launch on April 24, 2026, on PSVR2, PC VR, and Meta Quest 2 and 3. Developed by Iconik and published by Bandai Namco, this latest virtual reality chapter follows Dark Six on a journey intertwined with the world of Little Nightmares.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes, a virtual reality game developed by Iconik and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, is set to launch on PS5 via PSVR2, as well as on PC through SteamVR and the Meta Horizon Store, and on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3, starting April 24, 2026. The game takes the form of a first-person adventure and puzzle experience set within the Little Nightmares universe. Bandai Namco promotes this as a potential entry point into the franchise, while also tying it to the series’ well-established narrative.

In terms of gameplay, Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes adopts a first-person perspective and is designed around interactions optimized for virtual reality. Players progress by moving forward, manipulating the environment, solving puzzles, dodging threats, and escaping towering enemies—all with controls tailored to VR conventions, including direct hand interactions for certain actions. Official information highlights new dangers at each chapter and scenarios created specifically for compatible VR headsets. The game preserves the core elements of Little Nightmares, but translates them into a more immediate experience of space, sound, and obstacles.

Overview of Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes

The player takes on the role of Dark Six, portrayed as a mysterious silhouette on a quest to find their missing piece. The journey leads to new locations associated with The Pale City and Transmission, featuring narrative elements that expand the universe of Six and build upon events from the previous games. Bandai Namco also reveals that certain encounters will challenge both the enemies faced and the shifting nature of Dark Six. The story framework thus links Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes to the broader franchise, while not following the exact structure of the main episodes.

Our Preview of Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes

We got the chance to try this title during a hands-on session. Specifically, we explored the tutorial and part of chapter 3, all within a 30-minute window.

Visually, the game stays true to the franchise’s aesthetic. It’s eerie and unsettling, with proportions that make you feel the size of Six (Dark Six in this case) in this universe that initially feels quite uninviting. We moved forward cautiously, taking it step by step as the story unfolded.

Gameplay-wise, it’s pretty straightforward... You’ll mainly be walking, running, hiding, grabbing objects, and crouching. That’s enough to keep you engaged.

Our Recommendations:

A few quick notes: during our demo, the controls were intuitive and quite accessible, especially if you’re familiar with the PSVR2. The tutorial level is well designed to ease players into it, so no worries there. And if you’re wondering whether it’s genuinely frightening, rest assured—there are no jump scares, but the overall atmosphere is thick enough to make you break into a sweat.

However, for those prone to motion sickness, things might get tricky: moving around inside the game is done with a joystick... but you’re not physically moving, which can be disorienting. We were also advised to avoid running and turning simultaneously, as rapid rotation can quickly lead to dizziness. We experienced a few bouts of nausea (we’re casual VR players, not newcomers, to give you some context).

Regular VR enthusiasts shouldn’t have issues, but others should be cautious. We recommend taking frequent breaks to prevent spoiling your lunch or dinner. Still, it’s a compelling experience, and you’ll definitely want to see what happens next with Dark Six!

With this latest release, Bandai Namco introduces a new way to experience the Little Nightmares universe — through virtual reality and a first-person perspective. The real test will be how well the game adapts the series’ signature elements to the unique demands of VR, balancing clarity, pacing, and interaction. This approach could appeal not only to longtime fans of the franchise but also to players eager for a structured horror adventure focused on exploration and puzzle-solving in virtual reality.
