Enfants Rouges covered market
This is THE favorite place to be of Paris 3rd arrondissement inhabitants to buy the vegetables and fruits of the week. The oldest food market in Paris, open in 1615, offers many stands. Moreover, you can eat on the spot, thanks to the many Lebanese, Japanese, West Indian, Moroccan, Italian or even organic caterers… The dream for foodies who can meet there from Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.!
Raspail Organic Market
This organic market has been offering a large variety of stores on Tuesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. since 1989 (yes, organic already existed back then!). Lots of choices and quality products to have a spot in the heart of organic lovers. In addition to the traditional storekeepers, many Asian, Portuguese and Italian caterers are here. The only flaw: high prices.
Saint-Quentin covered market
If the day you go to the market is a rainy day, have a look at the Saint-Quentin covered market. Well, even if it’s sunny, this market set in a beautiful covered market deserves a stop. Fruit and vegetable shops, cheesemongers, fish stalls, caterers and butchers expect you to make you discover their specialties. And you can even eat on the spot, at the counter. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Saint-Martin covered market
Not far from the Saint-Quentin market is found another and nice market. Smaller than its stooge, the Saint-Martin market has yet beautiful stands. Butcher’s shop, fishmonger, cheesemongers and caterers. All you need to eat on the spot and fill your nostrils with nice smells, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Belleville market
The Belleville market is an authentic market where the locals meet to chat. It covers the central median strip, from Belleville to Ménilmontant and provides fruits, vegetables and other edible goods from all over the world at a very soft price. A cosmopolitan place, like its neighborhood where walking around feels good on Tuesday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Aligre market
The Aligre market is one of the most famous and lively markets in the French capital. It welcomes a rather wealthy population; even though it fits every budget! In the covered market or outside, you can buy many things (food of course, as well as spices, flowers…), bargain-hunt outside or enjoy a cup of coffee on one of the terraces lining the market square.
Brancusi organic market
Within walking distance from the Montparnasse cemetery, this friendly market offers fresh and natural products! Fishes, oysters, butter, bread, pastries… All you need to throw a feast! And prices are rather affordable for organic products. A stroll to enjoy on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.!
Les Batignolles organic market
Organic overs, the Batignolles market welcomes you with open arms on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Here, what’s important is the quality of the goods. No chemic products, no pesticides, only taste, authentic. Quality fruits and vegetables, as well as fish, bread, poultry, honey, cheese and eggs. And all of them are organic! Yet, allow a bigger budget.
Barbès market
Also called Marché Lariboisière, this market open in 1922 is held on Wednesdays (8 a.m. – 1 p.m.) and on Saturdays (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.) under the elevated railway! A funny, authentic and super liverly market where you’ll find all you need to fill bags with fruits and vegetables for barely nothing. Popular market, it mixes an eclectic population. With all the people moving, you better not be afraid of making your own way in the crowd!
Place des Fêtes market
Nestled in the upper 19th arrondissement, the Place des Fêtes market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays (7 a.m. to 3 p.m.). You can find vegetables and fruits coming straight from farmers (and you can take the time to speak with the latter). A few organic stands and correct prices make of this market a nice walk in the 19th arrondissement.
