After Neige, the Abondance cow in 2022, and Ovalie, the Salers cow who represented the 2023 edition of the most agricultural of Parisian shows, the Salon de l'Agriculture has now chosen the muse cow for its 2025 edition, which will take place at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center from February 22 to March 2, 2025.
So, this year, it's a cow with the lovely name ofOupette who will be the real star of the show. A Limousin breed, the new muse is 6 years old and comes from the Vienne region of France. She lives on a family meat farm, which raises a herd of Limousine cows totaling around one hundred. Oupette is the mother of three calves in the herd, and will give birth to a 4th calf by the end of 2024.
Did you know: how to become a muse cow at the Salon de l'Agriculture?
For each edition of the Show, a breed is given pride of place: in 2024, it's the Normande breed that has been selected by the President of the Breed Selection Organization (OS). What's more, the president directly chooses the cow that will be the muse of the Show: from then on, the breeder will have to devote part of his time to preparing the cow and promoting the Show.
The Limousin breed can be recognized by its wheat-colored coat. Known for its maternal qualities, the breed is mainly devoted to meat production. It is the most popular suckler breed in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and the second most popular suckler breed in France, according to Limousine.org. So, see you on February 22, 2025 to discover Oupette, a Limousin cow elected the 2025 muse of the Salon de l'Agriculture!
