This year, to celebrate the "Year of Physics" and the organization of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the theme of Physics Night will be "Physics and Sport".
Athletes' intuition and genius help define excellent strategies, but there's another key success factor that's just as important... mastery of the physical phenomena underlying sporting feats! This opens up a fascinating field of synergy between physics and sport, becoming a powerful lever transcending human limits!
The Société Française de Physique, the CNRS and the CEA are offering a Night of Physics on the theme of sport, with lectures, reports, debates, interactive quizzes, the presentation of prizes to young people who took part in school competitions, and the screening of the film "The Flying Scotsman", which tells the story of Graeme Obree, the English racing cyclist who broke a record using a bicycle made from washing machine parts!
La Nuit de la physique will be hosted from the Grand Rex in Paris by Maxine Eouzan, sports journalist and winner of Koh Lanta 2021, and broadcast live on the Société Française de Physique Youtube page.
