When the Roland Garros stadium started modernizing their infrastructure this past winter, many people expected the 2016 Roland Garros season to experience some organizational hiccups. But the famous Grand Slam tennis majors tournament is still on, and has even put together some new and fun events for the season.
The Musketeer Plaza (Place des Mousquetaires) Refurbished:
For tennis fans that love taking time to chill out, the Place des Mousquetaires has been reworked into a patio area where visitors can follow the day’s events in the comfort of lawn chairs and on a giant screen in Court No. 1.
The RG Lab at the Musée de la FFT:
Challenge yourself to a new and innovative tennis experience, called “#RGRobot Can You Beat the Robot?” Shoot the targets more accurately than the robot to win! There are many other activities for the whole two week period of the tournament, by partners including BNP Paribas, France Télévisions, Longines and Babolat.
A New My Roland Garros App:
The tournament’s application has taken on a new dimension for 2016; get all the information you need in real-time (match results, programs, photo sessions, training sessions available to the public, etc.) Free wifi zones will be set up so spectators can enjoy unlimited access to the app and its many advantages.
An Extraordinary Experience at the Perrier Stand:
For the Perrier "Extraordinaire" campaign, the company has some big surprises in store for the crowds at Roland Garros, including a total immersion virtual reality experience where you can relive the golden years of the partnership between the brand and the tournament. There will be many other activities to enjoy while you wait in line, and even prizes to win!
La Maison du Tennis:
If you want to discover more about the world of tennis, to find a club or learn how to get a “Découverte” membership this summer, then the Maison du Tennis is for you! You can find all of the information you need in their location near the Place des Mousqetaires.
Day for Children at Roland Garros:
Many different surprises await tennis lovers both on the courts and in the halls of the stadium on Saturday, May 21st, 2016. Exhibition matches will also be organized on the main courts of the tournament. All of the proceeds from this day will go to three French charitable organizations: « Fête le mur », « Tennis en liberté » and « Associations des Clubs ».
