Let’s start with a bit of history: the P. Virsky Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble has been created in June 1937 by two famous ballet masters, Pavlo Virsky and Mykola Bolotov. Today, the company includes 70 dancers. The idea? Enhancing the visibility of the traditional dances of Ukraine all over the world.
On the Palais des Congrès stage, dancers are dressed in traditional and super colorful costumes and hopping about in striking decors. Floral patterns, red and white hangings, garlands of fabric… Choreographies are perfectly executed, and the ensemble has a catching joy.
A few weeks before Christmas, this show seems to be a wonderful family outing possibility. Warm, historic, traditional and energic, the choreography of the dancers from the P. Virsky Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble always impresses while opening a lovely door on a country we don’t known this well.
