113 Ors d'Asie are on display at the Musée Guimet, from June 21 to September 4, 2017, in a beautiful exhibition dedicated to gold. Present in Buddhist symbolism, Tantric Buddhism and, to a lesser extent, Hinduism and Jainism, the precious metal had its rightful place at the Musée national des arts asiatiques - Guimet.
For thousands of years, gold has been considered the color of Buddha's complexion, as he is said to have appeared on Earth with a radiant body, illuminating the world and tearing the veil of ignorance.
For this presentation, the Museum focuses on tapestry and sculpture, and evokes the various uses of gold throughout Asia: gold powder used in sculptures in Japan, China and Korea, monetary issues in Kushan Afghanistan or the adornment of Indian maharajahs. In this way, 113 splendors recounts its fabulous epic through time, and in particular the reasons for the attraction and seductive power it aroused in Asia, and will return in another time to the techniques of extraction and the working of gold, for an almost complete account of this mineral!
