50 years ago, on March 2, 1969 at 3:38 p.m. (GMT+1), the Concorde was taking off at the Toulouse-Blagnac airport, flown by pilot André Turcat, helped by Jacques Guignard, Michel Rétif and Henri Perrier.
After flying over the pink city for about thirty minutes, the 001-prototype landed without any problem. Victory: this day marks a breakthrough in France’s aviation history.
How about boarding the Concorde, the legendary French aircraft? On March 2 and 3, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the first flight in the Concorde’s history? The Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace [The Air and Space Museum] holds a festive weekend in partnership with the Association des Amis du Musée de l’Air [Association of the Air Museum Friends] and the Association des Professionnels du Concorde et Supersonique [Association of the Concorde and Supersonique Professionals].
Curious people are invited to discover the Concorde F-WT SS-Prototype as well as the Concorde F-BTSD Sierra Delta that will be displayed at the Air and Space Museum and also available to visit! All you need to relive this mythic first flight (without even leaving the ground, of course!).
Moreover, during this anniversary weekend, guided tours, an exhibition, conferences, simulators and movies for a 100% air-related weekend!
