Art Paris, the annual fair that brings together all the players in themodern and contemporary art world, has seen a number of twists and turns for its 2020 edition. Initially postponed, the fair moved online, with a 100% digital edition, Art Paris Digital, from May 25 to 27.
But now, thanks to the support of its galleries and the Grand Palais, as well as the greatly improved health situation in France, Art Paris 2020 will finally take place in real life, from September 10 to 13 at the Grand Palais.
For the occasion, strict sanitary conditions will be applied, and the fair layout will be revised, with wider aisles, fewer exhibitors (around a hundred instead of 147), thermal cameras at the entrances if necessary, a reorganization of opening hours with a limit on the number of visitors at the vernissage, and openings reserved exclusively for professionals and collectors every day from 10am to 12pm. Security guaranteed!
More than 80 galleries, including foreign ones, have already responded enthusiastically to the call - 36 have declined the offer, some 30 are considering it, and new galleries deprived of spring fairs are keen to apply.
According to Julien and Valentine Lecêtre, owners of Art Paris: "The vast majority of the galleries we interviewed believe that the autumn will be an intense period, conducive to a resumption of activity. We're ready to take up this challenge with our galleries, and we'll be putting all our energy into ensuring that Art Paris successfully opens the ball of autumn cultural events in Paris in September, a world capital that continues to exert significant drawing power and boasts a rich ecosystem of particularly active institutions and collectors."
