Imagine strolling through the Jardin du Palais Royal in Paris and discovering an imposing 15-metre-high structure glistening in the autumn light. From September 15, 2023, and for 2 months, you'll have the privilege of living this unique experience with"Réflexions", the monumental installation by visionary master glassmaker Emmanuel Barrois. Using the finest craftsmanship combined with cutting-edge industrial processes, this work is resolutely contemporary and innovative.
Working with renowned architects such as Rudy Ricciotti, Kengo Kuma and Christian de Portzamparc, Emmanuel Barrois has created a work that invites us to reflect on man's place in tomorrow's world, through the materiality of the work and the immateriality of light. With its 8 tonnes of glass and 6,000 metres of interwoven prisms, Réflexions represents a veritable technical feat, conceived in collaboration with engineers for a rigorous scientific approach.
The singularity of this installation also lies in its visual impact. Thanks to the rainbow reflections of the glass prism projecting onto all surrounding surfaces, we are promised a unique sensory experience.
Details of the "Reflections" installation:
About Emmanuel Barrois: For Emmanuel Barrois, glass is more than a material: it's a way of life, a space of freedom, a vocation discovered through a chance encounter. After learning the art of glass by restoring stained glass windows in cathedrals, Emmanuel Barrois has reinvented this ancestral know-how to design resolutely modern installations. His quest: to bring to contemporary architecture the exacting standards of fine craftsmanship with a forward-looking, innovative approach.
