Les Orientalistes: the Atelier des Lumières exhibition takes us on a journey to the Orient - photos

In the 19th century, Westerners were thirsty for adventure, dreaming of the exotic worlds of theOrient. Artists were quick to embrace these fascinating, faraway cultures. Travel or imagination, fantasized scenes or realities sketched on the spot: it doesn't matter what the source is, as long as the painting makes the viewer dream.

L'Atelier des Lumières invitesus to follow in the footsteps of these famous painters, known as the Orientalists, in a ground-breaking immersive exhibition running from February 9, 2024 to January 22, 2025. Vernet, Constant, Ingres, Delacroix, Richter, Gérôme, Dinet, Guillaumet and many others are featured in this journey to the far reaches of the Orient.
