Stéphane Pia began his journey into photography in 1984, embarking on a path that is as fascinating as it is demanding. With a doctorate in mathematics, he taught himself the art of photography with a Nikon F given to him by his mother, herself a set photographer.
Although he has been exploring street photography since 1985, he refuses to confine himself to it, preferring to explore a wider range of styles.
His art is not limited to simply capturing the moment.
For over 15 years, Stéphane Pia has also been practicing Zen and, more recently, Japanese painting (Sumi-e), two disciplines that have had a profound influence on his photographic vision.
Each of his photographic walks becomes a meditation in motion, where breathing, posture and attention merge in a subtle dance with his environment, creating a symbiosis between his body and thecamera.
In this state of full awareness, his intuition takes over, capturing the precise moment when the moment freezes.
His approach is guided by a perpetual quest for learning. Every day is a new lesson, a field of exploration where he strives never to repeat himself, never to follow fashions.
For him, photography is a living discipline, similar to mastering a musical instrument, where daily practice nourishes the soul as much as the eye.
Come and join us for the final viewing on Saturday, October 12 from 7pm! Free admission.
