Jellyfish as you've never seen them before... TheParis Aquarium is opening a brand new area on its premises around these groups of cnidarians, the Médusarium. From January 16, 2019, deep-sea lovers have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures in a brand-new area, after three years of construction.

A total of 24 display basins offer visitors the chance to observe 25 species of jellyfish, in rotation due to the ephemeral nature of their existence, and to discover their habitat. At each basin, a screen is available for sea lovers to discover all the characteristics of the species on display to the public.

In the center of the Médusarium, a unique tank, custom-built by a Japanese craftsman in Otsuki, on the slopes of Mount Fuji, offers children and their parents the chance to observe these cnidarians from every angle, especially from above. A rich and diverse collection of jellyfish, highlighted by an exhibition based on Ernst Haeckel's plates, reinforces theParis Aquarium 's commitment to raising children's awareness"of the major challenges affecting the oceans, such as climate upheaval and the pollution responsible for the disappearance of marine ecosystems, which are essential to the quality of life on Earth".

Jellyfish will be the main theme of 2019 at theAquarium, as the cultural establishment offers a year-long program of events, a treasure hunt, creative workshops based on these invertebrates, a series of conferences with experts, an educational trail and a program of cartoons and films dedicated to the subject. How about a trip to the seabed, folks?

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
