The Place Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile will go car-free for 3 weekends in September, from Saturday September 18 to Sunday October 3, 2021, so Parisians and tourists can fully enjoy the wrapped Arc de Triomphe, as designed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Over 300 mediators will come and meet visitors and give a sample of fabric to those who would like one.

The place Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile will be all lovely and Instagram-worthy for 3 weekends, also traffic will be difficult. How come? Christo’s posthumous work, The Arc de Triomphe Wrapped, likely to make the Parisian monument disappear under 25,000 meters of recyclable silver blue polypropylene fabric squares, and 7,000 meters of red rope. An operation in partnership with Centre Pompidou and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, over 30 years after the Pont-Neuf got wrapped.

All month long, you can discover the Arc de Triomphe Wrapped  to your heart’s content from the Champs-Elysées. The pedestrianization of the Place Charles de Gaulle is held to keep the event safe in partnership with the police headquarters. And if you really want to enjoy the full package, head to the Champs-Elysées on Sunday September 19 and October 3 for the monthly pedestrianization of the area: careful if you happen to drive a car!

Besides, the access to the indoor areas and the panoramic terrace of the Arc de Triomphe will be provided to people holding a ticket, via the tunnel by the Champs-Elysées, as usual. The Flamme de la Nation in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider will keep on burning all along the operation.
