Have you ever heard of Station K, the abandoned mini-metro under our feet in Noisy-le-Grand, Seine-Saint-Denis? In the early 1990s, a metro line was to be built linking Noisy-Mont d'Est to the new Maille Horizon business district. But the developer went bankrupt, and the district never saw the light of day. The metro was completed, but now serves no useful purpose, and has been abandoned, even though it was intended to be futuristic. Today, this ghostly station is to be rehabilitated as a festive and cultural hub, but before that, enjoy one last visit into the past, this Saturday, October 21, 2023!
You'll feel as if you've stepped back in time, as you'll find an old French-franc ticket dispenser in a frozen setting! With the help of a guide, discover this street-art and urbex site and learn about the history of its construction, the technical details of its operation and many anecdotes, but also admire a photographic exhibition amidst graffiti. As part of this exceptional day, try your hand at graffiti, skateboarding or parkour, watch BMX and freestyle soccer demonstrations, take part in an urban planning workshop, enjoy a climbing wall, a music and urban dance stage, as well as an inflatable course for children!
For a foretaste of the future "tiers-lieu", numerous food-trucks will be on hand to serve you a meal or a drink. By 2025-2026, Station K will be transformed into a veritable underground living space, covering almost 2,500 m2. From cultural venue, bar and restaurant to sports venue, there'll be plenty to do! And it's all set to give this long-neglected urban heritage a new lease of life.
