In 2017, theÎle Seguin, a small ship sailing on the Seine near Boulogne-Billancourt, was given a place for life and art, the Seine Musicale. Formerly occupied by Renault factories and workshops, the 11-hectare site is now being gradually refurbished with a number of attractive projects, notably on the upstream tip, where a veritable cultural complex, La Pointe des Arts, is due to be completed by 2025, including a contemporary art center, cinema and shops.
This S16/S17 project, designed by RCR Arquitectes and CALQ, is intended to be a crossroads of nature and culture. From the cultural center's panoramic terrace , visitors will be able to stroll through a garden sheltered from the city, along the water's edge. This pedestrian-friendly side of the island will also feature a 3.5-hectare park with monumental sculptures. In addition to shops, offices and restaurants, this new space will also house a 221-room 4* hotel with a spectacular view over the Seine.
On the cultural front, the capital will be equipped with a new 5,000 m² multidisciplinary art center open to all, with a room dedicated to contemporary creation, a boutique-bookshop, a bar, as well as a new-generation Pathé cinema with 8 screens, including an IMAX. In a few years' time, the island will become even more accessible by public transport thanks to line 15, and could even be equipped with river shuttles!
