If you want to step back in time and take part in a vintage bal guinguette, you'll have to head for the Butte-aux-Cailles on Sunday, May 5, 2024, for an afternoon of vintage dancing! The aim of the Paris qui Danse company is to revive old-style social dances, which have largely ceased to be practiced. It's an opportunity to perpetuate the ballroom tradition with demonstrations on a festive Sunday afternoon, just like in the 19th century.
From 3pm to 6:30pm, you're invited to this free open-air ball, where you can sway to your heart's content on the dance floor and enjoy the refreshment bar at the top of the Butte, rue des Cinq-Diamants. Formerly located in Gentilly, this venue reflects the tradition of popular cabarets that were set up on the outskirts of the capital to avoid paying taxes. Don't hesitate to mingle with the dancers, who are dressed in costumes and trained in the dances of the period, to learn the steps and join in!
It's a great way to spend some quality time with family and friends, for a change from everyday life!
