Like every year, the festive rendezvous of the former Gay Pride, now called the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI+) Pride March, a national event that demands equal rights for heterosexual and LGBTQI+ people, takes place. This year, the event returns on Saturday, June 29, 2024 , starting at 12:30 pm. This is whatInter-LGBT has indicated on its social networks, calling on people to take over the public space and make the Marche des Fiertés de Paris et d'Île-de-France"a march against transphobia, a march for transolidarities, in France, in Europe, all over the world".
So, what can we expect this summer? The program for the 2024 Paris/Île-de-France Pride March will include the traditional speeches before the procession takes to the streets of the capital. Then, after the inevitable parade, the Grand Podium will take place on the Place de la République, with several talented artists on the menu (musical program to follow). In addition, the 2023 edition of the famous Marche des Fiertés has been marked by theabsence of floats, in order to " pursue the eco-responsibility and decarbonization of the event ".
What about the route for this 2024 edition of the Marche des Fiertés in Paris? This year, the march will start at 1:30pm from Porte de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement. The procession will make its way to Place de la République, via avenue Corentin-Cariou, avenue de Flandre, rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin and boulevard de Magenta.
Organized for the first time in France in 1981, the event attracts over half a million people to the streets of Paris. This event, now a must, is one of a kind. You need to have been there at least once to experience the excitement, the festive atmosphere and the demands of this demonstration, whose objective is simple: to obtain equality and respect.
Until 2022, the Marche des Fiertés was made up of a procession of colorful and musical floats, and was an opportunity for LGBTQI+ bars and clubs, radio stations and other associations to make themselves known to the general public, through their floats and the leaflets they distributed. Many of France's largest companies, in both the private and public sectors, also had their own floats, to celebrate the right to be different in the workplace.
Organized by associations and their volunteers, the LGBTQI+ Marche des Fiertés includes some sixty associations. They are responsible for the practical organization of the entire event.
