Heartstopper is THE series of the moment that's captured the hearts of many Netflix users, offering its second season since August 3, 2023. The series, adapted fromAlice Oseman 's graphic novel, tells the story of a budding love affair between two teenagers: Charlie Spring, an introverted, gay young man who has been harassed since his homosexuality was accidentally revealed by a classmate; and Nick Nelson, captain of the rugby team and a popular student who, as he falls in love with Charlie, questions his sexuality. We follow their stories and struggles, as well as those of their friends, including Tao, Ella, Isaac, Tara and Darcy.
A new eight-episode season that takes our group of teenagers on a three-episode school trip to Paris. Montmartre, the Louvre, the Marais, the Champs-Élysées... Parisians following the series will undoubtedly recognize many familiar corners, all through the eyes of the day's tourists. And for those who'd like to follow in the footsteps of their favorite heroes, here's a quick tour of the series' filming locations!
The journey begins in Montmartre (the bus passes through the streets of the capital on the A15), where Charlie, Nick and their friends discover the Place du Tertre and its painters, the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, and the bust of Dalida by French artist Alain Aslan, located on rue de L'Abreuvoir near the Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro station.
Two of them then visit the Musée de Montmartre and its delightful gardens.
Then on to the Pont des Arts, between theInstitut de France and the Louvre.
For dinner, we head for L'Escalier, an 18th arrondissement restaurant just a stone's throw from the Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro station. Then L'Hôtel de Sévigné, renamed here "Hôtel Mignon", in the 16th arrondissement. In the next episode, a short bus tour of the Champs-Élysées and theArc de Triomphe.
The group then heads for the Eiffel Tower, with its breathtaking view over the whole of Paris, before returning to the Pont des Arts.
Then on to the Musée du Louvre, in front of the Pyramid, and the department of Italian paintings (with the Mona Lisa).
Note that some of the scenes in the Louvre, notably the one showing Caravaggio 's The Supper at Emmaus (the work Ella is contemplating) and other works in the gallery, were not shot in the Paris museum, but at the National Gallery in London. On the other hand, the Cour Khorsabad in the Richelieu wing (where Tao and Ella separate from the group and get lost) and the Court Marly, where Charlie and Nick find themselves alone, and where Charlie learns that Nick is fluent in French.
The two lovebirds then take off to meet Nick's father at a café on the Quai de Seine, near the Pont-Neuf metro station. Note that the"Ecole du Coeur" metro station, where Charlie and Nick take the subway, doesn't exist. In the latest Paris episode, the Champs-Élysées are in the spotlight, as is the Shakespeare and Co. bookshop in the 5th arrondissement.
Charlie, Nick and their friends end their stay with a tour of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral, which was undergoing renovations at the time of filming after a fire in 2019, and the Marais, the capital's LGBT district.
It's a great way to showcase Paris as a tourist destination, and an opportunity for fans to discover - or rediscover - the spots where Heartstopper's heroes have wandered. All you have to do is follow in their footsteps, folks!
