In parallel with the Marche des Fiertés ( formerly Gay Pride), the month of Pride is set ablaze by Pepo Moreno 's lively, bold brushstrokes in the bustling streets of the Marais. At the invitation of Jean-Paul Gaultier, the Spanish artist illuminates 78 rue Vieille du Temple with a work that captures the spirit of freedom, acceptance and celebration of differences, until June 30, 2024. As the true leader of this committed tradition, "fashion's enfant terrible" once again raises his rainbow flag to change mindsets while energizing the cultural landscape with infectious passion.
The rainbow is echoed in the famous mural, overlooking a sailor in true Gaultier style, brandishing the house's two iconic fragrances: Classique and Mâle. The drawing is accompanied by the words "Jean-Paul is queer and 4ever here".
In Paris,Pepo Moreno has found his ideal artistic playground. From Berlin, where he first experienced homosexuality, to the City of Light, where he lives today, he transforms stereotypes into dazzling tableaux, blending humor and depth to embrace diversity from every angle.
Through saturated colors and varied acrylic techniques, his works captivate and celebrate difference with a style that hits the mark. Pepo balances between satire and homage, exploring the paradoxes of the modern queer experience.
On the wall of the legendary café La Perle, his fresco becomes a visual manifesto for the freedom to be oneself and love without borders.
In this festive and committed period, art becomes the megaphone of a proud, vibrant and free community!
