With its listed storefront and decor, the Méert store in Vieux-Lille is a must for any gourmand on the go, in France or elsewhere. Although the patisserie has existed in Lille since 1677 (one of the oldest in the world!), it took more than three centuries for it to decide to set up shop in the French capital.
After opening its first boutique in 2010, Méert is (finally!) opening a second address in Paris, this time in the Haut-Marais district. Just a stone's throw from the Rue de Bretagne and the Marché des Enfants Rouges, this new 65m2 space unveils its most iconic creations: the famous Méert waffles.
Méert Marais takes up the design codes of the historic boutique, and reflects the House's savoir-faire in its sweets. While sweet tooths know perfectly well the joy of biting into the iconic Madagascar vanilla waffles, this new boutique also unveils lovely brioches, plump and golden to perfection, made on the premises just like the waffles.
Méert cakes, madeleines, macaroons, orangettes and fruit jellies, less well known than the waffles mentioned above but just as tasty, are also on offer, along with a fine selection of Méert teas. And to whet your appetite, did you know that Méert waffles come in a range of flavours?
Choose from vanilla caramel-pecan, raspberry, lemon-citrus and pistachio-griotte. Count €3.20 for an individual waffle, €19.90 for 6 waffles, €31 for 12 waffles and €9.50 for 6 mini waffles. That's a lot of waffles to nibble on!
