In the heart of the 5th arrondissement, not far from Notre-Dame-de-Paris, nestles Café Clotilde, within the Maison Colbert hotel. It's here that Nina Métayer, known for her Délicatisserie patisserie and for being voted World's Best Pastry Chef in 2023, has come up with a brand new tea time, offered in Café Clotilde every afternoon from Wednesday to Saturday. On the menu? An elegant, gourmet snack in an exceptional setting.
"I wanted to offer an accessible tea time in a very chic setting", explains Nina Métayer, "I really like this place, it represents the French elegance of Paris", she confides. So, for Le Goûter de Clotilde, the pastry chef wanted to offer a formula that paid tribute to French pastry, to gourmandise, but above all, a snack that we could share to build beautiful memories with our loved ones. You can choose from a hot drink - we recommend the divine homemade hot chocolate - a glass of smoothie, a pastry and a slice of cake.
"We're really getting back to the spirit of the tea party, with simple madeleines, slices of cake..." says the pastry chef, presenting her very gourmet brookie (a chocolate brownie topped with chocolate chip and hazelnut cookie dough) or her lemon cake. As for the pastries, the elegance is there, with the magnificent rose-shaped dessert, whose fragrance evolves throughout the year, according to the fruits in season. Hazelnut mousse and praline insert, chocolate dome, lemon meringue tart... Nina Métayer pastry is found in every one of the fine, delicate pastries in this exceptional snack.
The ultimate indulgence, each guest receives two madeleines, to be accompanied by a trio of homemade spreads - pistachio, praline and salted butter caramel - for a truly regressive moment. "We're here to indulge ourselves: we sit down, have a cup of tea and a pastry," says the chef. Indeed, Clotilde's tea party is all about enjoying time together, spending an afternoon with a loved one, over delicious treats. "For me, the afternoon tea is a moment to be shared with someone", confides Nina Métayer, "it will create beautiful memories, in terms of tastes and flavors, but above all because it's a shared moment". Finally, Le goûter de Clotilde revisits the codes of snacking to offer an exceptional, accessible snack, where you can come with family and friends alike! Count on €36 per person to enjoy Café Clotilde every afternoon, Wednesday to Saturday, from 2pm to 6pm.
When you leave, don't forget your chocolate lollipop, a little treasure that you can munch on on the way home, like a Proust madeleine, to keep that deliciously regressive side of Goûter de Clotilde alive a little longer.
