Here's a piece of news that puts a smile on our faces: Nina Métayer, the pastry chef we love so much at Sortir à Paris, was voted Best Pastry Chef in the World by the International Union of Bakers and Pastry Chefs on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Munich, Germany.
This is a major accolade for the French chef, as she is quite simply the first woman in history to win this prestigious title, and a major step forward in the recognition of female chefs in the world of pastry-making and, more broadly, gastronomy.
Trained at the Ecole Ferrandi, and having worked at Le Meurice under Yannick Alléno, Raphaël, Jean-François Piège's Grand Restaurant and Café Pouchkine, for which she designed a range of products, Nina Métayer subsequently opened her own patisserie, Délicatisserie, initially by delivery only, then in person, at Printemps du Goût.
"Last night, 11pm... incredible moment... It's both an honor and a pleasure to receive this title of World Pastry Chef 2023 awarded by UBIC, the International Union of Bakers and Pastry Chefs present throughout the world. On this day of honor, I'd like to thank the artisans who work with me on a daily basis, the enthusiasts who work with me and for whom this is much more than just a job. To my teams, bravo, thank you, I can't wait to see you again!" a happy Nina Métayer declared on her Instagram account.
Congratulations Nina!
