Nina Métayer's delicious pastries are now available on the Champs-Élysées. And not just anywhere, since it's in Lancôme's Paris flagship, where the elegant Café de la Rose has opened its doors to delight us.
Outside, along the most beautiful avenue in the world, a large, flower-filled, covered terrace awaits you. There's plenty of room to relax and savour the moment in this open-air tea room.
For this new gourmet café-tea room, Nina has imagined a range of pastries inspired by the famous Lancôme roses, the brand's emblem. But don't worry, Nina explains that the aim is not to present a whole range of rose-twisted pastries, but rather to offer creations that recall subtle notes of rose, sometimes contributed by other ingredients.
The current menu features a delicious signature cheesecake with fresh French cheese, revealing two textures. We love the crunchy, lightly spiced shortbread and the light mousse.
Of course, its now iconic flower is also to be found on the spot, in a flavor you won't find anywhere else. It should evolve, but the apricot-melilot version is just crazy, and we recommend it.
The more traditional can also enjoy the chef's timeless creations, such as croquant chocolat and tarte citron. As a takeaway, the café offers a raspberry financier, a brookie and a rose petal cookie, as well as other delicacies such as crunchy chocolate and psychedelic lollipops.
Nina Métayer explains that the menu will evolve over time, based on feedback and the many tests and discoveries he imagines exclusively for this café.
In short, if you'd like to relax in a cosy café bathed in pink and discover the creations of a two-time World Pastry Champion, take note of the Café de la Rose address. It's at 52 avenue des Champs-Elysées, from 1pm to 7pm all week and from Wednesday to Sunday on the terrace, then from 1pm to 10pm from July 15 to September 15.
