Café Pli: an inspiring coffee shop where you can send yourself a letter in the future

Café Pli is an intimate concept straight from Korea, offering you the chance to put your thoughts on paper for your future self, who will receive a letter in one, ten or twenty years' time, and will undoubtedly have a nice surprise! Rendezvous in the 11th arrondissement for a moment with yourself, over a drink and a sweet treat.

Have you always dreamed of creating a time capsule and opening it in 10 years' time to revel in the emotions and nostalgia of seeing how you've changed? Café Pli offers you this opportunity with the country's first letter café, a concept inspired by Korea, where it's common to come across such places.

While enjoying a pastry (3.5 to 5.5 euros) or sipping a drink (from 2.5 euros), write a letter to your loved ones or your future self during a heart-to-heart moment, one-on-one with yourself, in the 11th arrondissement.

In this coffee shop from another space-time, we take a moment to refocus, imagine a future and hope for the best, in an intimate space conducive to confidences set down on paper. You choose a sweet treat while chatting with Geneviève, the instigator of this idea which she loved to live during her Korean trip, before choosing your card and motivational message, your pen of the most beautiful color and your sealing wax, blue or gold.

Then, all that's left to do is to pour out your soul onto paper, to encourage each other, to pour out your fears and hopes, to tell the story of your life, with only one thing to look forward to: being able to reread these words in one, five or twenty years' time. You then write down your address (send it to friends and family who have a house if you're going to be moving house in the near future!), the date you'd like to receive your letter and stick on a few adorable stickers, before adding the finishing touches.

Slowly, we use a candle to melt our wax seal, as in the old days, before placing it on the envelope to close a part of our life, a memory that is finally already distant. It's also possible to write to our loved ones to surprise them in the future, for a birthday or an important moment, a beautiful proof of friendship or love and confidence in the future.

You'll need to pay at least 15 euros for this service, which includes a choice of beverage - because, of course, the café has to hold your letters for a certain length of time, and send them to France on the agreed date. It's also possible to send your letter internationally, should you miss a friend on the other side of the world! Every Wednesday, you can take part in an unusual experiment by answering a question in a letter, and leaving with one from a stranger!
