Fans of Christophe Louie 's famous panettones can now salivate: the baker-patissier has opened his first boutique in the Haut-Marais district, and it's already the place to go for a sweet treat this autumn!
A true afficionado of natural sourdough, Christophe Louie has long wanted to introduce Parisians to panettones, the famous Italian brioches. Over the years, he has more than succeeded, with sweet-tooths conquered by Christophe Louie's creations, and now (finally!) with the opening this September of a boutique a stone's throw from Place de la République, on the charming pedestrian alleyway Dupetit-Thouars.
The signature product of this new address, panettone, is available in a variety of versions, from the traditional (42€) to the even more original, revisited with passion and commitment, as with this chocolate panettone (44€), also available by the slice (5€).
But the baker - who trained as a pastry chef - isn't content with these generous marvels, and also offers a complementary range of special breads (always made with natural sourdough and ancient wheat, beautiful, very crisp loaves); pastries (on the day of our visit, fig tarts and cream puffs); viennoiseries (tulip croissants; 2.50€) as well as a range of devilishly naughty travel cakes: from hazelnut and almond financiers (2.50€) to delicious madeleines covered in orange blossom icing, as well as thick slices of lemon cake (3€) and marbré (3€)!
The real plus for local workers? A range of sandwiches in baguette or focaccia versions, with vegetarian recipes (7.50€), country ham (9€) or ham and cheese (7.50€), to eat on the go at lunchtime or to enjoy on the pleasant little terrace.
The Haut-Marais is more gourmet than ever!
