Last year, the American Marriott chain opened its seventh Courtyard hotel in the Paris region. This address, located opposite the Gare de Lyon, is the brand's first in Paris intra-muros. Courtyard by Marriott Paris Gare de Lyon boasts 249 rooms on 19 floors, and a host of services that will appeal to business travelers and families on vacation alike.
Marriott has chosen to set up in the 12th arrondissement, at the heart of a business district that is undergoing major change. This new Courtyard spot is next door to Station F, the start-up incubator, the Cité de la Mode et du Design and Ground Control, lively places that bring together restaurants, art studios, shops... The hotel is also ideally located for tourists. All metro lines are within walking distance of the hotel, and you only need to cross one street to enter the Gare de Lyon station.
Business travelers benefit just as much from the hotel's ideal location as from its in-house facilities. Courtyard Paris Gare de Lyon offers 500 m² of workspace, including 9 meeting rooms for up to 100 people. Those wishing to do so can work in modular, privatized areas, or in open spaces designed for teamwork.
With 78 family rooms and a children's play area, thehotel doesn't forget families. At weekends or during the vacations, there's a pancake station to keep the kids happy, right after the coloring pages provided on tables at children's height.
The rooms, ranging from 21 to 27m², overlook the city's various monuments. The large windows offer a unique and impressive panorama of the capital. At a glance, you can see the Jardin des Plantes, the Eiffel Tower, the Tour Montparnasse, Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, the Sacré-Coeur... Prices, from €149 to €229, are reasonable for rooms with such a view of Paris.
The hotel's restaurant and bar, called Kitchen and Bar, are open continuously from 6:30 am to midnight. Chef Mélissa Ravel, former chef of Les Inséparables and chef de partie at the Maison Blanche, offers a regularly renewed menu, based on fresh seasonal produce grown by local producers. Those who prefer to eat in their room can order a K&B to go box. Customers pick up their dish at the restaurant and can take away any of the dishes on the menu.
At the Atelier Long Drink bar, original house cocktails are prepared with flavors picked from the vertical vegetable garden, accessible by the cooks and bartenders. The bar features house-made gin infusions and wines from independent producers.
The Courtyard by Marriott Paris Gare de Lyon features skylights and a large green wallin the lobby. With its yellow, green and woody tones, the Courtyard hotel hopes to maintain an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort for all travelers. The decor is inspired by the station district: along the walls, the design recalls the station's rails. Large photos echo the artisan workshops that enliven the surrounding area.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
