After the Maison Souquet on the outskirts of Montmartre, a former Belle Epoque pleasure house transformed into a small palace, and the Maison Athénée, just a stone's throw from theOpéra Garnier, in homage to the theater, the Maisons Particulières Collection now unveils a hotel, also designed as a confidential and intimate private mansion: the Maison Proust, in the Marais district, a true tribute to the aristocratic salons of the Belle Epoque and to Marcel Proust's essential work, A la recherche du temps perdu.
To achieve this, interior architect and decorator Jacques Garcia has taken up the codes of the period, using materials and fabrics, textiles and textures, which he declines throughout the floors, in rooms and suites that pay homage to theworld of Marcel Proust. The first three floors of the house evoke the personalities of Parisian life; the 4th floor, painters; the 5th floor, writers; while the 6th floor is dedicated to Marcel Proust's apartments.
On the first floor, the lounge revolves around the bar, with its stained walnut décor adorned with atlantes, wood panelling and quilted mirrors. The menu features cocktails by mixologist Pierrick Baudry. The winter garden, bordered by carved wooden colonnades, invites you to relax and enjoy a game of backgammon, chess or dominoes, or read a book in the library stocked with nearly 700 works evoking the world of Marcel Proust, including a rare handwritten letter and an original edition by the author.
And for even more relaxation, head for the spa, with its ten-meter pool surrounded by columns, hammam and three treatment rooms, inspired by the salons of Aunt Léonie, where Marcel Proust spent part of his childhood.
