Beautifully located on the corner of a sleek white building, Cinq Codet has everything we need to seduce us. Before this hotel, the building housed a France Télécom exchange... It's hard to believe that people could have worked there all crammed together, now that the brand-new hotel is shining brightly after nearly two years of design and construction.
Interior designer Jean-Philippe Nuel offers a new vision of the hotel business: he wants to think of each room as a little pied-à-terre, and brings a touch of life and warmth to every room in the hotel.
Let's start with the common areas... Guests arrive in a reception area that looks more like a living room: a large sofa, beautiful art books and small tables all contribute to giving this place of passage a foretaste of warmth and chic. The tone is set with a new kind of seating and lighting: Cinq Codet will be all leather and wood, two materials that ride the wave of understated chic. And above all, the whole thing is full of color and joy!
Then, before heading up to the room, we stop for a drink or a bite to eat at the bar/restaurant, organized around a digital fireplace. The restaurant is a pleasant, medium-sized affair: it leaves it entirely up to the customer to choose whether to come as an intimate, a professional or a family. Jean-Philippe Nuel imposes nothing, even if it means confusing, as it is difficult to define a precise clientele for this hotel... And so much the better!
The idea is modern: everything blends together and partitions fall away. The choice of furnishings and tones livens things up: say goodbye to minimalism and hello to fiery cocktails! Bonus: the magnificent terrace, which is sure to be one of our HQs as soon as the warm weather returns!
Upstairs, you'll find a spa reserved for guests, with an outdoor Jacuzzi and a small, well-equipped gym. The hotel's corridors are amusing: instead of the usual long sequence of doors (whose terrifying monotony has even inspired certain horror films), the rooms' mezzanines invite themselves into the corridor and punctuate it with triangular shapes, changing the luminosity and adding spice to the arrival.
Finally, the rooms, 67 in all. The Dome Suite, the largest, is incredible: designed like an apartment, surrounded by a flower-filled terrace with a Jacuzzi, it offers comfortable but not flashy luxury, all in beautiful materials, colors and modern curves. With a view of the golden dome of the Invalides, of course...
More modest, but as stunning as ever, are the duplex rooms. Both simple and functional, they gracefully unfold their staircases: you climb from the living room to the bedroom, where you'll find a bathtub and dream of romantic nights in front of the huge windows... Finally, the simplest rooms are charming.
Ultimately, what we take away from Cinq Codet is its contemporary vision of luxury, which has shed its superficial trappings to focus on comfort and warmth. Leather for the long sofas, wood from floor to ceiling, and an overall impression of well-being. Solid, happy, we like the hotel. It welcomes us with open arms and, thanks to its pied-à-terre concept, offers the prospect of a very personal hotel experience... And, once again, for everyone: pros, tourists, families, lovers, and so on.
We'll be back!
