Calling all spy fans! Paris Cité des Sciences provides us with an exhibition likely to meet such as success. Interrupted because of the coronavirus epidemic, Espions is back from December 2020, and extended to September 5, 2021.
With this playful exhibition open from 12 years old, you’re like an agent from The Bureau. Director of Intelligence Marc Lauré aka Moule à gaufres [Waffle Iron] tells us we have to move quickly to deliver details to the President of the Republic within 48 hours. Moving from service to service, we’ll have to collect information the President needs by becoming a sound analyst, a satellite picture analyst or even a cryptographer…
All in all, over 25 devices are available to help us understand better the scientific methods and protocols to observe in these top-secret missions. At the end of the investigation, children and adults are expected in the crisis room to write down the detail form and discover the decisions taken by the President thanks to the collected data.
For the exhibition, 14 intelligence agents agreed to be interviewed so that you can make the difference between true and fake spies as described in some series and books. And to illustrate all this, you’ll discover more about six contemporary spy cases such as the murder or Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai on January 20, 2010, the cyberattack against TV5 Monde on April 10, 2015 or the poisoning of Serguei Skripal on March 4, 2018…
According to Universcience president Bruno Maquart, the exhibition was possible thanks to the DGSE [General Directorate for External Security], the DGSI [General Directorate for Internal Security] and the DRM [Directorate for Military Intelligence] as they “agreed to support a display of such a scope; thanks to them, the tour is as close to the reality as lived by those working in today’s intelligence.”
Between investigation and exhibition, we love it!
